Stephen Tolman

Vice President of Technology/CIO

Stephen is Vice President of Technology and Chief Information Officer at Deseret Digital Media. He is responsible for leading and managing the technology team, which is composed of some of the most talented and innovative people he has had the privilege to work with. In addition, he is responsible for building and managing the company's information technology infrastructure and creating the strategy for the next generation of technology to be used at DDM, which is key to the company's innovative cultural success.

Prior to joining DDM, Stephen was CIO at Deseret Management Corporation, DDM's parent company. Stephen was responsible for providing information technology coordination, direction, and strategy to DMC and its companies. He represented DMC in all information technology projects that crossed multi-company lines as well as negotiated major cost savings for DMC and its companies with information technology vendors and providers. Stephen has also worked for Digital Equipment Corporation as a Professional Senior Software Consultant providing information technology consulting to all the major companies in the intermountain west. He was an expert in real-time process control systems designing and coding a good portion of the water/waste water treatment facilities within the Salt Lake Valley, which to this day continues to keep our drinking water clean and pure. He managed the data center for the General Electric Company's Stream Turbine Generator Division north of Boston and was a R&D engineer at BF Goodrich's Research and Development facility in Akron, Ohio.  

Stephen received a Bachelor of Science degree from Brigham Young University in design engineering technology cum laude. He has served as president and other board member positions on the local Utah chapter of the Society of Information Management and continues to serve on the board of the Salt Lake City Chapter of the BYU Management Society, including a term as past President.

Stephen enjoys jazz music, architecture, and is trying to learn Hebrew and its symbolism.
